About

The Chipley Historical Center of Pine Mountain was established in 1985, so that the historical documents, photographs and heritage of the area might be collected and preserved. The goal is to create the finest genealogy/history center in West Central Georgia.

The Center is located in the original City Hall, which was constructed in the early 1900’s on McDougald Avenue in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The old City Hall, with its two jail cells, has been saved from deterioration over time. It has been completely renovated, and has been placed on the National Register of Historical Places.

Items of historical value, such as old letters, photographs, land grants, deeds, diaries, newspapers, etc. should be preserved. If you have any such items, or know someone who does please call the Center; or stop in, so that we may discuss the permanent preservation of such items. This will contribute to the preservation of the rich heritage of this area for future generations.

The restoration of the old City Hall was accomplished by the generous support of many people and organizations in this community, for which we are most grateful. Continued support of this project is achieved from direct donations, membership dues and volunteer assistance.
